Jamie Murray Comments on Djokovic Exemption Prove of Vaccine for ATP Cup

INTERNATIONAL: British tennis player Jamie Murray has commented on the issuing of a medical exemption certificate to Novak Djokovic to allow him to play in the Australian Open without a vaccine against coronavirus.

Tennis Australia have issued a statement earlier on Djokovic decision to play in the Australian Open without a vaccine was made “following a rigorous review process involving two separate independent panels of medical experts”.

Serbia's Djokovic confirmed via social media that he would compete in Melbourne later this month, ending weeks of speculation. Speaking at the ATP Cup in Sydney on Tuesday (January 4), doubles specialist Murray has shown his disapproval regarding the privilege

Djokovic has received to play: "I mean, I don't know what to say about that really. I mean, you know, I think if it was me that wasn't vaccinated I wouldn't be getting an exemption, and that's... You know, but well done to him for getting clear to come to Australia and compete." Murray's fellow Briton, Liam Broady tried to intervene in his colleague’s declaration: "At the end of the day you kind of have to trust that he does has a valid reason for the medical exemption. That's all you can say about it, really, isn't it?"

The decision will certainly cause plenty of debate, and Djokovic could be in for a rough reception when he takes to the court in Melbourne.
